"Athens meets Australia"
Timeless Greek serenades will meet traditional Australian songs in a Greek boite style at SA singer-songwriter Loucas Loizou’s 2018 Adelaide Fringe show, Athens Meets Australia in Songs and Stories.
"I wrote this show to give the opportunity to people to listen to some songs that are written especially for Athens and are called ‘kantades’ in Greek," said Loucas.
"A few decades back it was the fashion that when you were in love you would go with your guitar and sing under the balcony of a lady by yourself or with friends."
Loucas said a number of these timeless songs were still sung today at parties, and they are "soft and mellow – completely different to what the Greek music of today sounds like".
"I will also perform some traditional songs of Australia in a Greek boite style in a way that the story and meaning of the song stands out or at least they will have my personal interpretation.
"There will be stories of immigration and adjusting to life in Australia, and I will also perform some of my original songs", Loucas said.
Loucas Loizou will appear at Fedora's Restaurant, Hilton Hotel, March 16-18, 7.30pm
