Odyssey Festival searching for artists

July 2012

In 2012 Adelaide's Hellenic Cultural Festival ODYSSEY enters its 7th year as the Greek Orthodox Community of SA inc. (GOCSA) once again presents a series of exciting arts and cultural events from 22 September - 13 October, 2012.

With this year's theme being a celebration of Hellenism, in 2012 Odyssey will celebrate all things that make us 'Greek', as we look into the window of our culture.

ODYSSEY ART PRIZE

As part of our celebrations, we will once again feature the talented works of local artists as part of the Odyssey Art Prize exhibition, which is held throughout the duration of the festival at its hub in Franklin Street, Adelaide.

We are currently on the look out for artists with a love for Hellenic culture to display their works based on the theme 'Celebrating Hellenism', whereby the 'Odyssey Art Prize' of $2,000 is awarded to the best work in ANY art-form.

Be it painting, drawing, photography, print making, ceramics, sculpture or any creative art form, the theme of 'Hellenism' can be interpreted any way the artist wishes, be it relating it to modern day or historically. The winning piece will become a permanent fixture in the Greek Orthodox Community gallery and non-winning pieces will be available for purchase.

As an artist with a love for Hellenic (Greek) culture, it needs to be clarified that you don't have to be Greek or of Greek background, however, your love/passion of the culture needs to be reflected in your artwork while depicting the theme.

We request that your artwork be ready to hang by Monday 17 September, with the winner announced at the launch on Saturday 22 September.

To express your interest in being a part of the Odyssey Art Prize exhibition in 2012 please contact Odyssey Festival coordinator Maria Foundas on 0419 835 995 or odysseyfestival@gocsa.org.au by Friday 31 August, 2012.
