Tramountanas' descendants donate to "Save the Archives"

January 2014

George Tramountanas was born on Lemnos in 1822 and was the First Greek to settle in South Australia arriving in Port Adelaide in 1842. All of his records appear to have been destroyed in the mid 1800's during the Turkish occupation of Greece. His descendants would dearly love to find records of his Ancestors and George's birth & shipping records, but we fear they are lost. Now in 2013/2014 there are over 200,000 records of Greeks immigrants, which can be preserved, all that has to be done is for some money to be raised to get the job done. How simple this is. For the sake of all future Family Historians who will need these records for their research, we implore all people of Greek origin to make a donation to Save the Archives. The descendants of George North (Tramountanas) have made a donation in the hope that it will spur on more donations. We wish you all a Merry Christmas & a safe & Prosperous New Year. For more information, see "http://www.facebook.com/savethearchives".
