"All the rivers run" south
RENMARK, January 2011 More heavy rains are predicted in the next few days for Queensland where more than 200,000 people in 13 council districts have so far been affected. Worst hit is the city of Rockhampton where more than 75,000 people have been cut off completely by the muddy waters which have inundated their city.
In the meantime, experts are warning that if there is another major rain event in Queensland, the water that will flow our way through the Murray Darling system, could cause worse floods than the ones we had in South Australia in 1956.
The photo is of the Bookmark Creek crossing the Sturt Highway near Ren-mano Winery in Renmark. It has been totally dry for the last decade. It is now overflowing into adjacent paddocks.
