Riverland's Anne Ruston elected to the Senate
August 2012 Renmark woman Anne Ruston, was overwhelmingly endorsed by the SA Liberals as the replacement for outgoing Senator Mary Jo Fisher. In statements she made to the local media early this week, Anne Ruston promised to be the voice of the region in Canberra, making sure the people of the Riverland are the biggest beneficiaries of her presence in the Senate. The 49 year old Renmark Rose grower, competed against three other prominent Liberal members and gained support from the majority of the 208 delegates who voted in a ballot held in Adelaide last Friday. |
